About Us

The Gujarat State chapter was idealized by the first batch of Radiologists from B.J. Medical College and N.H.L. Medical College of Ahmedabad in 1970.

Our respected teachers Dr. Harshad R. Shah, was supported by Dr. N.A. Dave, Dr. Mahendra Belani, Dr. Madhubhai Parikh, and Dr. N.L. Patel.

On 24th January 1981, the 34th IRIA National Conference was hosted by Gujarat State at B.J. Medical College campus. The record-breaking 1600 delegates attended the event. The new team was active under the leadership of Dr. H.R. Shah with 35-40 Radiologists across Gujarat. Later on, the management was led by Dr. Jasani, Dr. Kadiwala, Dr. Suresh C. Shah, Dr. Love Patel, Dr. Dinesh Patel & Dr. Gaurang Shah.

First time Grand State conference was held outside Gujarat-Mount Abu in 1995 with 370 delegates. It was organized by Dr.Y T patel & Jt.Org.Secretary Dr.Manish shah.

The official charitable Trust & co-operative society was registered on 31st march,2009 with Registration No.-F/14394/Ahd & formed Radiological Imaging Association of Gujarat State Chapter with collaboration of national body of IRIA.

Dr. H.R. Shah was the first Gujarati National President of IRIA in 1995, the centenary year of the Radiology community. Dr. Hemant Patel was the most visionary National President of IRIA from Gujarat in 2019.

Gujarat State chapter hosted three National Conferences: 1981 (34th), 2010 (63rd), and 2020 (73rd).

The permanent office of RIA Gujarat State was purchased in year 2025.Which was the vision of two National Leaders - Dr.H.R.Shah & Dr.Hemant Patel.

The RIA Gujarat State Chapter conducts CMEs,Conferences & workshops for upgradation of knowledge. It also arranges samrakshan and community welfare programmes. The unity and brotherhood can also be promoted by recreational activites for members.
